For our body to function efficiently and at its optimum level, it’s important that we digest a variety of vitamins and nutrients. Fruit and vegetables are the best way to acquire these nutrients, but sometimes eating these food types alone can be bland and boring. Creating a juice out of these foods however is a fun and interesting way to absorb all of the required vitamins and nutrients our body needs and also to sky-rocketing our health naturally.

Here’s my favourite juice recipe that works wonders for the inner workings of my body.

It’s up to you how you would like to extract the juice from these fruits. I do it by hand, but it takes a considerable amount of time and effort. Perhaps purchasing a juicer would be a good investment if you make this juice a regular addition to your diet.

2 Fresh Grapefruit

To put it bluntly, grapefruits are absolutely stuffed with Vitamin C which helps to protect the immune system. It also contains the antioxidant, lycopene, which has the highest capacity to help fight oxygen free radicals, which are compounds that can damage cells. On top of this, grapefruit contains pectin which has been proven in animal studies to slow down the progression of atherosclerosis and contribute to the lowering of cholesterol.

2 Fresh Oranges

Of course, oranges provide an invaluable source of Vitamin C (in fact just one orange supplies over 110% of your daily value for Vitamin C), but they also have many other health benefits. Oranges also protect against cardiovascular disease, contain liminoids which fight cancer, lower cholesterol, act as a good source of fibre, protect against kidney stones, rheumatoid arthritis and respiratory health. Consider the sweet and heavenly taste of oranges and it makes an excellent addition to your juice recipe.

Half a Lime

While lime alone can taste very sour, mixed with other juices and it can add that kick that you need to your new juice drink. Limes contain flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties, as well as a high concentration of vitamin C that helps to protect the immune system and reduce cholesterol by preventing the build up of free radicals that block the arteries.

These fruits squeezed of all their juices and mixed together will make up approximately a pint of heavenly tasting, health empowering and mind enhancing juice. Try it yourself and see how you like it!
